Coalbrookdale &
Ironbridge, “birthplace
of industry”, is
a World
Heritage site.
Facilities
The Centre has car parking for 32 vehicles and level access to all
facilities on the ground floor. 100 people can be accommodated
comfortably in the main room and there is moveable seating for
this number. There is also a selection of large oblong, small oblong
and small round tables (all foldable and moveable) sufficient to
accommodate 100 people sitting at tables. Tablecloths are
available.
In addition there is a smaller second room which leads off the main hall. This has a kitchen with
cooker, fridge with small freezer compartment and microwave. It has a bar area which can be
used to serve drinks or food and there is a hot water dispenser and there
are also two kettles. Crockery, cutlery, glasses and mugs for at least
50 people is available.
There are male and female toilets and a toilet for wheelchair users.
Wi-fi access is available, (ask for the password) and there are plenty of
sockets for computer use.
In the centre of the main room, there is an original maypole (still
useable if you bring your own ribbons!) dating from the days when the
Centre was the local school.
Outside, in addition to the large car park, is our Rain Garden. We,
with Shropshire Wildlife Trust and the Environment Agency, de-
paved an area of old tarmac and planted a garden which is watered
by rain drawn from the roof. There is a wild flower lawn, a bench for
quiet contemplation, and a permanent brick-built barbecue for
more social occasions. Click here to see what was done.
On the other side of the car park, there is another garden with a
seat. This is called Rachel's Garden and was planted in memory of a local resident and
committee member who died in 2008.
